Various Firefox tweaks that make it better.

If your search in the awesome bar isn't showing tagged bookmarks trying starting it with * to make it search bookmarks. You can also use % to search open tabs.

This page shows additional options.

To make new tabs show up next to the current tab instead of some damned random place:

• about:config
• Set browser.tabs.insertAfterCurrent to True
• Set browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent to True

• about:config
• Set browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInTabs to True

…and stop grabbing the stupid space on the end.

• Set layout.word_select.stop_at_punctuation to False
• Set layout.word_select.eat_space_to_next_word to False

If you get an HTTPS error and the Advanced button doesn't include an option to go to the page anyway it's because Firefox has an HSTS flag that disallows excecptions for that site.

To re-enable exceptions for the site…

• Open your current Firefox settings/profile folder via either…
  • type about:support in the address bar and press Enter
  • “3-bar” (AKA hamburger) menu button > Help > Troubleshooting Information
• Find Profile Folder in the left column and click Open Folder next to it.
• That will open an Explorer window showing your profile folder.

Leaving that window open, switch back to Firefox and Exit/Quit, either:

• “3-bar” menu button > “power” button
• (menu bar) File > Exit / Quit

Pause while Firefox finishes its cleanup, then go back to the Explorer window and open the file SiteSecurityServiceState.txt in your preferred text editor and delete all lines for the hostname you need to access and save the file.

Start Firefox again, on your first visit, Firefox normally ignores the HSTS status because it hasn't gotten past the handshake.
